UFC 300 ppv preview
At the event, Zhang Weili, the current two-time champion, and Yan Xiaonan are slated to compete for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship. It will be the first time in the organisation that two athletes of Chinese descent would compete for a title. Zhang outlasted Carla Esparza and regained her championship.
Former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway will challenge former interim UFC Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje to defend his figurative “BMF” (baddest motherfucker) title in a lightweight match. In their second meeting, Gaethje defeated fellow former interim champion Dustin Poirier via second-round knockout to win the symbolic title at UFC 291. In August of last year, Holloway retired the Korean Zombie, putting him back on the winning track.
Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira, the former UFC Lightweight Champion, will square off in a lightweight championship eliminator.
Bo Nickal, an unbeaten prospect and three-time NCAA Division I National Wrestling Champion, will square off against Cody Brundage in the middleweight division to open the main show.

Alex Pereira
Pereira has held the titles of UFC Middleweight and Light Heavyweight champions. He is the first fighter in UFC history to win titles in both the middleweight and light heavyweight classes, and he is the ninth competitor overall to win titles in two separate weight classes. He is the only fighter to have ever held Glory championships in two weight classes at the same time and a former middleweight and light heavyweight kickboxing champion.
Considered one of the greatest combat athletes of all time, Pereira is the first fighter in history to have world titles in both kickboxing and mixed martial arts at two different weight classes. In February 2021, Pereira had the top spot in the kickboxing middleweight and light-heavyweight categories.
Jamahal Hill
As the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Hill fights in the Light Heavyweight class of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is currently ranked #1 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings as of November 14, 2023.
Hill began his professional career in 2017 and went 5–0, with KnockOut Promotions being the promoter of four of his five fights. Hill defeated future UFC fighter Dequan Townsend in just his fourth professional fight, despite Townsend having made 26 pro appearances before that match.
After that, in 2019, Hill got the call to participate in Dana White’s Contender Series 21, which he won by ground and pound victory over Alexander Poppeck in the second round to secure a UFC contract. At UFC Fight Night 166 on January 25, 2020, Hill made his UFC debut against Darko Stošić.
Zhang Weili
Zhang Weili is the current and two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, competing in the women’s strawweight class of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Zhang has been competing professionally since 2013. She was the KLF Women’s Strawweight Champion while she was a contender for Kunlun Fight (KLF). She is ranked #2 in the UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings as of September 5, 2023.
Yan Xiaonan
Presently, Yan Xiaonan fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the strawweight class. She is ranked #1 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings and #10 in the UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings as of January 23, 2024.
Yan carried on her Sanda training at the Xi’an Sports University. She didn’t convert to mixed martial arts until the year 2015.
Yan was the first female fighter from China to be signed by the UFC. Yan made her UFC debut against Kailin Curran in 2017.
