2024 World Rugby Sevens Series in Perth Preview:
Australia sits at the top in the women’s standings. They will be eyeing a hat-trick of tournament wins following their dominant victories in the opening two rounds in Dubai and Cape Town.
Maddison Levi is expected to continue her impressive try-scoring form on the wing for the Rio 2016 Olympic champions.
Reigning series champion New Zealand will give a stern challenge, who are currently third overall and will look to offset the loss of influential captain Sarah Hirini by welcoming back World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year 2023 Tyla King (née Nathan-Wong).
France, second overall, will provide a constant threat as they look for a third-successive top-three finish in the Olympic year.
In the men’s side, the title race is wide open with the Pumas, South Africa, Fiji, New Zealand, Ireland, and hosts Australia all sitting within six points of each other.
Series leaders Argentina begin as favorites for the men’s title, winning gold in Cape Town and silver in Dubai.
The South American powerhouse will once again be relying on 2021 Player of the Year Marcos Moneta, who is once again dazzling the opposition with his blistering pace.
USA star Perry Baker will be the one to watch out, while Henry Hutchinson will offer the much-needed boost for the home team.
